Costa Rica, recognized as a global leader in sustainable tourism, will host the 5th annual P3 (Planet, People, Peace) conference September 23-25, 2015 in San Jose. The event, organized by Costa Rica’s National Ecotourism and Sustainable Chamber (CANAECO) is sponsored by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) and gathers national and international leaders who share their experiences, knowledge and best practices with the goal of promoting and growing the sustainable tourism industry.
This year’s conference will focus on addressing issues including social development through tourism, climate change adaptation, water management, innovation and competitiveness in tourism. The conference will present invited dignitaries, media, industry sponsors and guests with an opportunity to network and exchange information including marketing strategies, new scientific and technological developments in the sustainable tourism industry.
“As a world leader in sustainable tourism, we are deeply committed to constantly striving to be in the forefront of the latest programs and developments that support our planet and improve the experience for travelers who visit Costa Rica,” said Alejandro Castro Alfaro, director of marketing for the Costa Rica Tourism Board. “P3 provides us with this perfect forum to discuss challenges, share solutions, innovations and raise the bar even higher in the industry.”
The event further provides the international community within private and public sectors with the opportunity to network with other industry leaders, attend a number of seminars, exhibitions and educational platforms that ultimately lead to the support of sustainable tourism initiatives worldwide.
“Our goal this year is to bring world leaders together to share their sustainability strategies, best practices, challenges and opportunities to enrich not only tourism companies but other industry sectors, and create an atmosphere of networking around sustainability," said Nathalie Carballo, CANAECO director.
CANAECO is a private nonprofit organization that gathers professionals, educators and institutions from across the globe to create a forum that promotes the widespread of sustainable tourism options. It provides global strategies and tactics that advance socioeconomic developments while protecting the natural and cultural heritage of its country.
P3 is the only international event for sustainable tourism organized in Costa Rica. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy panel discussions, special presentations and lectures, as well as cultural performances. They can also experience the new sustainability projects first hand during post-event tours.
